Regular visits to your dentist, in addition to daily brushing and flossing, has been proven to help protect your oral health. Based on your individual circumstances, your dentist will recommend more frequent or less frequent visits, however, most people visit their dentist every six months.

What to Expect at our Walled Lake Dental Office

Dr. Hechtman and his highly trained dental hygienists will perform your dental checkup. Typically your visit will involve: an overall oral health inspection, cleaning, polishing, and x-rays if needed. Our dental office takes extra care to remove the tartar from your teeth, using the latest technology in dental cleaning.

After the cleaning process is completed, we will discuss any dental hygiene problems that may have been detected, and discuss solutions that will help maintain your healthy smile. Rest assured we will examine your teeth, gums, and mouth to look for changes or signs of potential concerns.

At some point we may decide to take X-rays of your teeth to look for decay, gum disease, or other dental problems. Our office uses digital x-ray technology, which exposes our patients to less radiation.

American Dental Association Statement on Regular Dental Visits

To maintain optimal oral health, the American Dental Association (ADA) recommends regular dental visits, at intervals determined by a dentist. In light of a new study published in the Journal of Dental Research titled “Patient Stratification for Preventive Care in Dentistry,” the ADA wants to remind consumers that the frequency of their regular dental visits should be tailored by their dentists to accommodate for their current oral health status and health history, read the full article here: https://www.ada.org/en/press-room/news-releases/2013-archive/june/american-dental-association-statement-on-regular-dental-visits
